The station’s address is 1 Ardsley Avenue, Irvington. Our own post said for four years that Ardsley-on-Hudson belonged to “the town of Irvington”. There is no such town, and a buyer who books a viewing on that basis loses an afternoon.
The Ardsley NY Metro North question
Ardsley has no station. It has five nearby, and residents pick by the direction they drive.

All five sit in the same fare band on the MTA’s own table, so the choice costs the same whichever way you go. Five platforms, none of them yours, and the flexibility is worth something: a signal problem on one line isn’t your problem.
The rate fell and the bill went up

The rate is lower than two years ago and the assessed base grew by $222 million. A tax rate is a fraction, and somebody keeps changing the bottom half.
So comparing two towns by their rates tells you nothing, which is the trap explained in the suburbs of NYC. The village rate is also one of three layers: Greenburgh and the school district sit on top. The Ardsley Union Free School District is why most buyers we meet are looking here. Niche’s 2026 ranking places it among New York’s leading districts and in Westchester’s top ten.
That’s the entire price mechanism in a village of 5,079 with no platform. Georges puts it plainly: “I don’t think any neighborhood is overpriced, quite frankly. The market is transparent.” The district is not a hidden feature; it is the invoice.
What we see in the field
Buyers arrive with the wrong village. The two Ardsleys have different prices and different stations. Check which one a listing means before you drive out.
Old guides carry claims that only exist on the page making them. Ours called Ardsley “the 351st largest community in New York State”. That sentence belongs to a data vendor, who applies it to Southampton, and to towns in California and Texas. We removed it rather than fix it.
The rest of the correction list is short:
- Population 4,502: The 2020 Census says 5,079.
- Ardsley-on-Hudson is in the town of Irvington: Irvington is a village, not a town.
- Borders Yonkers and Irvington: The actual neighbours are Dobbs Ferry, Scarsdale and Elmsford.

Is Ardsley the same as Ardsley-on-Hudson? No. Ardsley is a village in the Town of Greenburgh. Ardsley-on-Hudson is a hamlet and a Metro-North station inside the neighbouring village of Irvington, in the same town.
Does Ardsley have a train station? No. Residents use Dobbs Ferry or Hastings-on-Hudson on the Hudson Line, or Scarsdale, Hartsdale or White Plains on the Harlem Line. All five carry the same $271.50 monthly.
What is the tax rate in Ardsley? The village rate adopted for 2026-27 is $10.3724 per $1,000 of assessed value, and that’s the village layer only. Greenburgh and the school district add their own.
Is Ardsley in Greenburgh? Yes. It is an incorporated village inside the Town of Greenburgh.
