A Modern Woodland Retreat in Willow

Set among the trees in Woodstock, this custom-designed modern home blends thoughtful architecture, natural materials, and contemporary comfort in a serene Catskills setting. Shou Sugi Ban wood siding, expansive south facing windows, and clean architectural lines give the home a distinctive presence while connecting its interiors to the surrounding forest. The exterior is finished in Shou Sugi Ban, the traditional Japanese technique of charring wood, lending a layer of craftsmanship and architectural character to the design.

Inside, generous glazing draws natural light into double height open plan living spaces and frames views of the woodland surroundings. A double stairway leads to the upstairs with a wide lofted hallway doubling as living space. This top level includes three bedrooms, a large office, an additional flex room, as well as a generous open mezzanine, offering versatility for working from home, creative pursuits, or additional space to suit your needs. A dedicated laundry room is on the top floor as well.

Multiple levels of outdoor decking extend the living space into nature, creating inviting places to gather, dine, or unwind among the trees. A geothermal system provides efficient heating and cooling, while a natural stream below the house adds another dimension to the peaceful setting.

Architecturally distinctive and immersed in nature, this Willow retreat offers a compelling combination of modern design, thoughtful amenities, and the quiet beauty of nature in the Catskills.
